David de Gea - Player of the Week

David de Gea - Player of the Week

Man Utd beat Liverpool to continue winning run

De Gea saves from Raheem Sterling.Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-0 to extend their winning run to 6 consecutive Premier League matches. The goals were scored by Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie, but they needed De Gea to make some world class saves to stop Liverpool returning home with a point or three. In the first half, De Gea made 3 saves to stop Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling and in the second half he made another 3 fantastic saves to stop Mario Balotelli scoring for the Reds. With Manchester United in winning form and De Gea saving everything, can Man Utd challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season?

"David De Gea had a big influence on the game - he has fantastic reactions."  Louis van Gaal, Manchester Utd manager.

No, he isn't. I think Liverpool's Alisson Becker is the best nowadays.
In Man Utd history, I think Edwin Van Der Sar was the best goalkeeper ever.

Courtois had great season, De Gea had great season, but Schmeichel, van der Sar, Seaman, had a great decade. Such a generation of goalkeepers that we had opportunity to watch everyday on the pitch or on the tv, we won't see again. It is hard to get close to them, even harder to achieve the same or more.

If David continues his current performance, he has all chances to become the best Manchester United goalkeeper. But he would need to score (at least once!) to reach the level of Peter Schmeichel))
